Position: Regional Training Manager

The National Democratic Training Committee offers free, interactive online and live training for Democratic candidates running for office. We aim to empower any Democrat who wants to be involved in local politics with the tools needed to be successful.

We believe that by working with candidates we can accomplish three goals: improve the performance of every Democrat up and down the ticket, elect more Democrats to office, and create a deeper bench of qualified candidates for higher office. 

To accomplish these goals, NDTC is creating a long-term, scalable, recruitment, training, and placement program with an emphasis on empowering historically underrepresented communities to begin careers in Democratic politics.

This program consists of a blended online and live training schedule and includes ongoing and post-election professional development to help trainees build careers across election cycles.

Job Description

NDTC is seeking a Regional Training Manager (RTM) to manage regional operations for our national live training program. As NDTC’s program expands, we are looking for an RTM to oversee all logistical and operational needs to execute 100+ person trainings across the country. This person will ensure events are successful and cost-effective, paying attention to budget and time constraints. The ideal candidate understands the driving forces behind effective training programs and knows how to work collaboratively with external partners to put on successful in-person training events. This position works collaboratively with the NDTC live training team and the operations team in particular to execute strategic trainings.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operational efforts for live trainings across the country which includes but is not limited to -

    • Booking venues and negotiating fees

    • Booking travel and lodging for trainers and staff

    • Plan menus, order food, and/or hire caterers

    • Ensure staff is adequately prepared for event

    • Manage budgets and provide adequate reporting documentation

    • Work collaboratively with the operations team

    • Coordinate staff responsible for event coordination activities

  • Work collaboratively with partners and in-house team members to establish goals, deadlines, definitions of success as they relate to recruitment and other operational needs.

  • Serve as a key member of the NDTC live training team.

  • Develop and manage operational budgets and processes.

  • Use data to measure success and make strategic changes in programmatic efforts.

  • Keep senior management informed with detailed and accurate reports and/or presentations.

  • Develop an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.

Position Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong knowledge of team-based project management.

  • Have 1-2 years event management experience, ideally within a political organization.

  • Experience in Google Suites.

  • Have experience working across departments or teams within an organization.

  • Are outcomes focused, well-organized, and have a sense of humor.

  • Work well with deadlines and fast-paced environments.

  • Are able to communicate effectively and build relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders, trainees, staff, and others.

Salary is commensurate with experience, with a range of $45,000 - $55,000 per year. NDTC offers a strong benefits package including health insurance with the employee premium paid-in-full by NDTC, a 10% employer match on contributions to 401(k), short and long-term disability and life insurance, as well as a flexible paid time off policy.
