Role and Responsibilities:

The Political Director is responsible for crafting and executing the NDTC’s outreach program to identify and train candidates across the country, as well as creating, maintaining, and growing partnerships with state and local parties and other Democratic organizations. 

 

Creating, executing and managing the external communication plan for the NDTC including earned, owned and shared media.

Building a plan for expansion of the NDTC, including hiring and managing political staff and consultants.

The Political Director will report to the CEO.

 

What the PD does (in plain English):

You’re responsible for finding candidates to train, then managing them. You’ll work with the CEO to manage external communications, including the social media program (don’t worry we have a really good team for it already) and ultimately help us grow this organization the right way so we can elect as many Democrats to office across the country as possible. 

Oh yeah, you have to be fun to work with, appreciate good humor, and not take yourself too se-riously. Applicants who make us smile and laugh will score extra points.

 

Who We are Looking For:

Ideal candidates will have multiple years of experience in Democratic politics, including on the ground campaign staff experience.

 

Several cycles of experience building or strengthening political organizations.

National contacts within Democratic politics are a plus.

Knowledge of the Democratic Party politics.

Knowledge of electoral campaign strategy and tactics

Ability to develop and maintain a variety of relationships on a variety of levels.

Ability to hire, supervise and develop staff.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a timely manner and keep track of a variety of projects. Excellent planning and organizational skills, including strategic planning.

Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the ability to make presentations, plan and develop materials and conferences.

Ability to inspire confidence of others with personal authority, leadership skills and a collegial work style.

 

Salary & Geography

This is a senior level position and salary is commensurate with experience. The NDTC is based in Chicago, IL and ideal candidates would live/work here. We’re open to discussing tele-com-muting options.

The NDTC is an organization dedicated to creating and offering free campaign training to any and every Democrat running for public office or leadership role across the country.

  • Begin to prepare now for the redistricting battles of 2020
  • Improve Democratic performance up and down the ballot.
